Creativity is a way for people to express themselves and concept ideas in ways never heard of before. Is the classroom damaging this ability?

School has always been a place for grades and achievement status. As students we submit and assignment and expect a grade back in 1-2 weeks (hopefully!) As a creative myself, I always wonder what it would be like to not have to receive grades for my more creative-based assignments.

I have three main thoughts about this subject:

  1. There is often an added stress when needing to turn something in for a grade.

  2. Students may resent creative thinking in the future.

  3. This could inhibit the ability to think in different ways.

Creativity needs to be implemented in ways that students have the ability to share their expressiveness without the fear that their work will be ridiculed.
